All of us prefer that you contact us through e-mail. Please let us know if you would like to schedule an after-school appointment to discuss concerns about your child. For emergencies please contact the school or call/text us at: 231-796-4648 (Ms. Williams) or 847-867-7945 (Mrs. Antoniono). If you need to call us at night please do not call after 8pm. Texting is great too!

Classroom Binder
    • *
    • Each Student has a binder that contains 3 folders, one for math, one for reading and one for take home work.  (Students will also have space in each of their classrooms to keep other materials they will need).
    • * Your students will keep their work and homework organized in this binder.

    • * The binder will come home every night and needs to come back to school every morning.

    • * Please help keep your child organized by looking through their binders on a weekly basis, and EMPTYING THE GRADED TAKE HOME PAPERS!


    •  Homework

     * Expect 20 minutes of math and 20 minutes of reading each night.
    * Students will record homework and assignments through Google Calendar this year.

    10:30-11:15  Time Time Swap (TTS) Mrs. Antoniono & Mrs. Ware
    11:15-12:30  Reading- Mrs. Moon
    12:30-1:15   Lunch
    1:15-1:30 Read Aloud
    1:30-2:15  P.E. M/W & Specials T/R
    2:15-3:30 Projects- Ms. Williams

    3:30-4:00 Chores/Snack/Silent Reading

    Positive Behavior/Consequences
    • We will create a classroom culture that focuses on the positive behaviors of our students.
    • If a concern arises with negative behaviors we will deal with those issues on an individual basis.

    Extra Curricular/Absences
    1. Attendance is critical to a student's success.
    2. The school wide make-up work policy states that all make-up work is given to the students once they return from their absence.
    3. Parents who have questions about missed work or specific concerns regarding their student, please e-mail, or arrange, via email, to meet with the teachers after school. Please do not interrupt academic time.

     Study Hall
    There are four reasons a student can be sent to Study Hall (also posted on classroom blogs):

    1. Student did not complete homework, or did not complete correctly.
    2.  Student needs to take a test due to being absent.
    3.  Student wasted time in class.

     4.  Student needs to make up project time due to being absent.

    Volunteers
    • Math Fact Volunteers- I am implementing math facts differently this year. I will be in touch in the upcoming weeks for volunteers to help with math facts!
    • Project Volunteers- Ms. Williams will be in touch when she is in need of parent volunteers for a specific project.
    • At-Home Volunteers- Unfortunately, we do not foresee needing parents to work on tasks at home.  Please keep this in mind when you are accruing your volunteer hours.

    A new project!

    This week we have begun our Nevada project titled "Who Would Move to Nevada". Today we spent time talking about state symbols and our state motto. We will move on to researching six different groups who moved to Nevada through history. Yesterday we had a guest speaker from the Northern Pauite tribe. She kicked off our project with a great deal of information about the first settlers to this area. Students seem to be adjusting well to our classroom and procedures. Please let us know if there are things with which you need help or questions answered. I love working with this group! Enjoy your week.

    Conferences, Project and Holiday plans

    Hi Parents/Guardians, It has been a long time since I have updated this blog. I am sorry, but life in our classroom has been crazy. In a good way! ***If you have not signed up for conferences for tomorrow, please contact me so we can set up a time when we can sit down together and discuss our first trimester. We are required to meet with every parent, and I will have to keep bugging you until that happens. ;-) Our project with maps is coming together very slowly. I am hoping we will finish next week and will let you know when our presentations will take place so you can come and see and hear what these fourth graders have learned about our state. Yesterday, I sent home student slips for a gift exchange/Secret Santa on the last day of school before break. As the note stated, if you do not choose to have your child participate, please let me know as soon as possible so I can make sure every child gets a gift.     Change in plans

    The students seemed to really enjoy their introduction to Noodle yesterday. Unfortunately, there was a problem in getting the frog for today's dissection so we will be rearranging our schedule and dissecting either Thursday or Tuesday. Just an FYI!
