October, pictures and project

Good Evening!

I'm sorry to say I forgot to send home pictures today as we were working on projects right until the last minute! I will be sure to send them home tomorrow.

We have finished our first round of edits for the essays and the timelines. Those will both be completed this week, and students will start creating their models. I know they are looking forward to this next step. They have been real troopers with the research and we are all looking forward to the "fun" part of the project. They have learned soooo much!

As they work on their plans for the models, they may be asking to bring some supplies in from home. Most supplies can be provided at school, but they may want some special items to add to their model. Thank you for your support in this.

You have awesome kids, and I am loving working with all of them!

Project Update

Your children have been working hard to find information for our "Who Would Move to Nevada" project. It has been difficult for some of them and we are working slowly to find the information they need. We are hoping to finish our research this week.

We have had some wonderful speakers who have helped us understand some of the cultural aspects of our ancestors' lives. We greatly appreciate that insight.

By next week we hope to be building models of their group's lifestyle. When that time arrives, I will be sending home information about any contributions we may need from home. Thank you for your support!

A new project!

This week we have begun our Nevada project titled "Who Would Move to Nevada". Today we spent time talking about state symbols and our state motto. We will move on to researching six different groups who moved to Nevada through history. Yesterday we had a guest speaker from the Northern Pauite tribe. She kicked off our project with a great deal of information about the first settlers to this area.

Students seem to be adjusting well to our classroom and procedures. Please let us know if there are things with which you need help or questions answered.

I love working with this group! Enjoy your week.

First Day of School!

Hello Fourth Grade Families,

We had an amazing first day of school. Your children were wonderful and we were able to accomplish many of our organizational tasks. Ask them about our day! I can't wait to work with them again tomorrow.

As it turns out, I will be the substitute in our classroom for the mornings the rest of this week and next while Mrs. Antoniono is out of town. I am so excited that I will be able to spend most of the day with our students for two weeks. I will be teaching morning math and will keep you updated on how things are going.

Enjoy your evening and get those kiddos to bed early. I'm sure they're exhausted. :-)
